JoAnn’s real estate success is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Growing up in La Junta, Colorado, as an 8 year old girl, she witnessed firsthand the resilience of her family after a devastating fire burnt down their restaurant, Henry’s Supper Club in 1966. Her parents, rebuilt their lives through hard work and turning challenges into opportunities. JoAnn watched her family business and learned how to run a business. Managing and remodeling property rentals together with bookkeeping & accounting were learned at an early age. These values—resilience and resourcefulness—are at the core of JoAnn’s work ethics.

After working as a Construction Loan Officer and working as an office manager for Basin Real Estate in Vernal, Utah JoAnn became a Realtor in 1979. In 1985 JoAnn and her husband Dan moved back to Colorado. JoAnn worked for Mr. Real Estate, Coldwell Banker, Century 21 and Re/Max where she gained experience at the school of Hard Knocks and Hard Work. In the Spring of 2011, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to buy and refurbish a historic home at 1212 Main Street and start up and establish HomeTown Real Estate of Cañon City. Since that time, JoAnn has been the number 1 Residential Agent in all but 2 of the past 13 years! Now with over 45 years of real estate experience, JoAnn has become a trusted and respected name in the Cañon City area.

• Pricing a home: It’s not unusual for inexperienced, lazy, or otherwise questionable Realtors to show up for a listing appointment all nicely dressed with a colorful packet of information in their hands and then they announce that they can get a super high price for the home. Some of JoAnn’s business comes from good people whose house hasn’t sold and their Realtor won’t call them back. JoAnn’s approach is direct, honest, and without the inflated price claims. It doesn’t mean JoAnn’s listings don’t sell for a good price, they do because they look good and are market ready.

Whether JoAnn is at a family gathering or at a community event, she notices things that aren’t running smoothly, she doesn’t wait to be asked but settles in on whatever it is and gets things rolling in the right direction. If something bad happens to a friend or family member, she doesn’t say, “give me a call if you ever need anything?” JoAnn says, “what do you need?” and they know that she means it. When it comes to homes, JoAnn jumps in looking to solve problems and make your move successful. She believes in being PROactive not REactive.  She’s more than a Realtor, she’s in your court to make sure everything is done correctly, on time and most of all up front and legal!
